Rebels Change the World

giphy (3)

I’ve already posted today, but I saw today’s wordpress word prompt is ‘Rebel’, and I just couldn’t resist!

There have always been rules, both social or more formal laws. Rules put in place (in theory) to protect, organize, and assist the masses. You only need to stand up and question your immediate surroundings to realise that sometimes the rules can be more of a hinderance to real and positive change than a help, sometimes the rules are protecting the wrong people, and most of the time they don’t stop people who intend to do whatever they want, regardless of how many people they will hurt in the process.

When people are trying to bend or change the rules for a positive outcome, that’s when the magic happens…

Kerri Kasem was unable to visit her elderly father because his wife forbid it. Despite the fact that he also wanted to see her, the law says his wife had to give permission. Have you ever heard anything so strange? Does it make any sense at all?

Well obviously Kerri went to work and changed the law… That’s my kind of woman!

I challenge you to re-think some of the rules you are following. I hazard a guess that most of them are unwritten social rules. Find which ones are making you unhappy  for no real reason other than “this is how we’ve always done it”, and dare to be different.

Stay unrelentlessly you,

The Artist’s Dilemma: Bills vs Passion

As I follow my heart to what is undoubtedly a more and more creative calling, a realm of possibility seems to grow exponentially with each step.

The ideas and opportunities really are endless. For the first time in my life I feel like I am only limited by my own imagination and drive (although some of this is possibly also due to my efforts to learn from as much as possible from as many successful people as possible, including their mindset).

Regardless of the why, it is both overwhelming and INCREDIBLY EXCITING! The anticipation is killing me! I am like a pot boiling on high on the stove (almost) unchecked.

I say almost because a girl’s still gotta pay her bills… And unless said girl is particularly good at her chosen practice, it is unlikely she will be able to pay her bills with any profits from it, and need to take time away from their passion to make some moolah. Being the ‘late bloomer’ that I am, I find myself in the unlikely category…. The frustration is soo real but soo common! I get it, there are soo many of us in this boat, creative and otherwise.

Gary Vee says the key to success is patience and hard work. Let’s hope so! Cause I’m all in!

Can you relate? How do you deal with it?

Stay hungry 🖤

6th March 2018: I ♥ Change

Dear Diary,

It’s only Tuesday, but what a week it’s been!

It has been officially announced that Job No. 1 (my day job) is changing, and I am gradually moving to a new team, which will hopefully provide more of a challenge (always looking to learn more!).

I’m LOVING FASHION SCHOOL!!! I wish I had taken the plunge sooner! We had our first construction class today, and man, soo many ideas, soo little time. There is something about the act of creating that GIVES ME LIFE…. I am looking forward to seeing what will come of such a short course.

I can’t remember if I already mentioned that I have been offered work experience with a couture fashion designer?! (AKA a couturier). Soo very excited about this! Although I’m yet to start, and don’t have a whole lot of time to fit this in, but we’ll see what comes of it! There is soo much about the industry that can only be picked up by working in it. ESPECIALLY in haute couture, which I am particularly drawn to…

Every day, I can feel the hunger to grow my dream empire grow, and with it, my ideas on how to do it. With each prospect, comes more anxiety about what could go wrong, but I know I just have to do it. I know how much it sucks to just settle, so I just need to get on with it and go all in.

I am still rundown, which is a pain because it’s hard to do yoga without coughing and spluttering so I’ve had to take time out. Sigh. At least I am actually getting better… just slowly.
Stay magical,

Freestyle Friday: Spring Cleaning

OK so it’s not actually spring anymore, but the summer holiday is the best time to actually get this stuff done! Our house and yard hasn’t looked this tidy since, well last summer… and there’s still more left on my summer to-do list.

Throughout the process I’ve found all sorts of clothes, books, and other items that have been used up, outgrown, or become outdated. Largely this is because they no longer align with my ideals, values or mindset for whatever reason, and now they sit gathering dust in various corners and cupboards. At some point in the past, these items were here to serve a purpose and a goal that has either been achieved, forgotten, or discarded.

Having this stuff around, it is a constant reminder of those old values and ideals, and old thoughts that are no longer of value to have at the forefront of my mind. This clear-out will not only give a sense of satisfaction at having such a tidy home and yard, but will also serve as a mental clear out of these old mental associations that no longer serve me!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want or need dusty old goals taking up space in my house or my mind, so I say let’s get rid of all these old and outdated mental associations! Let’s bring in new items that align with new goals, new heights, and assist us in getting to where we want to be!

Keep pushing forward!

Day 84: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

Not much to report on day 84 to be honest, just an ordinary day of grinding, organising and practicing. I am just about done with Bethenny Frankel’s audiobook “A Place of Yes” though, and every chapter in it has held a little bit of inspiration for me, so I highly recommend it!

I will leave you with a quote from it that struck me quite hard after a lifetime of heartbreak, failures, and bad decisions before I decided to become the best version of myself… take the lesson from it, and keep moving forward.

“No matter what you’ve done, even if you regret it, even if you don’t know what the hell to do next, every single thing that happens to you has the potential to open new doors. It happened for a reason—and it’s still taking you somewhere, even if you can’t see it right now.” – Bethenny Frankel

Have a fantastic day!

Day 37: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

Day 37 kicked off with Day 1 of a 5-day video challenge put out on Twitter by Media Mogul, and speaker from this year’s 10X Growth Con, Hank Norman.

The challenge is fairly straightforward, making 1-1.5 minute long videos every day, for 5 days, that are engaging, well spoken, and keep his interest.

Imagine my enthusiasm when he responded to my tweeted video link with encouraging and very useful feedback for my first video! Working on my delivery is very important to me, because as Tony Robbins says, your communication is only as good as how it is received.

If I am not communicating my message properly, I want to have the insight and the tools to change that! I want you to see that if I can figure out how to go from broken, aimless, and miserable to hungry, positive and successful that you can too!

Not that I have achieved everything I want to do… far from it. That being said, I don’t think it will ever be enough, there will always be more good I can do, but all I can do is keep going until I can’t anymore. Why can’t you do that to? Why wouldn’t you want to?

I hope you’re smashing your goals today!

Day 36: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

Anxiety has welcomed me back to the party it seems. It is time to slash and re-adjust what I am doing. Anxiety is my “canary in the coal mine”, it let’s me know when deep down I don’t think I am on the best path to what I want, or perhaps what I want has changed, but my actions have not changed to reflect this.

Time to get honest and make some changes that truly make me happy down to my soul, and then tackle it at full steam!

I hope you’re smashing your goals today!
