Operation Dreamspace: Update #1

sport-treadmill-tor-route-163444.jpeg

This is probably going to be a very long operation… better get cracking then!

Honestly most of the work is going to be in getting somewhat good at the things I want to actually DO in my Dreamspace studio for yoga, design and music! And of course consistency is key when it comes to getting better at something, so I have committed to at LEAST the following daily (as a minimum!)

Music

  1. 15 minutes guitar practice,
  2. 15 minutes bass practice,
  3. 30 minutes vocals or show rehearsal while I’m getting ready for this

Design

  1. Sketch out at least one concept wearable art design,
  2. Create one new digital design for Grim Ponie (even if I end up hating it), or learn one new digital design trick

Yoga

  1. Practice daily to increase flexibility
  2. Each week will pick a new pose to tackle ,or circle back to a pose I’ve struggled with, and will spend a good chunk of each daily practice to focus on alignment of, or preparation for this pose

Honestly I find I manage to squeeze in more than the minimum most days, but achieving the minimum is great for confidence, especially when it’s been a busy day at the day job to pay the bills in the meantime!

I’d love to hear of any ideas that helped you master your own craft quickly?!

Thirsty Thursday: Know what you DON’T want?

light-2581929__340

There is often a lot of focus on staying hungry for what you want, and consistently moving towards those goals. But what if you don’t know what you want? What if the goals you were so certain would make you happy to achieve, no longer provide any motivation as you’ve grown and changed over time, and you don’t quite know where you want to go from here?

One way to start the ball rolling, is to simply start moving AWAY from what you know you DON’T want. These could be people that don’t share your values or are actually quite toxic to your mindset, or it could be a career which challenged you at the time, but you now find monotonous. Maybe you’re just purely sick of the same old stories at the office Christmas Party, and you can’t bear it any longer.

If you find yourself just sitting around waiting for a sign for what to do next, how about just moving away from what you don’t want? This doesn’t have to be as drastic as quitting your job, buying into a burger franchise and starting a whole new running race, but start making changes nonetheless. Try something new that you wouldn’t have usually done.

Say yes to dinner with a new group of people you hardly know, if you usually spend a lot of time stuck in the office then find opportunities to spend more time outside, if you’re sick of the gym try a new sport that you know nothing about, read a book you wouldn’t usually look twice at. Keep going until something peaks you interest, and then follow those breadcrumbs until you find your new purpose.

Stay hungry!

Motivation Monday: Christmas Soldiers

pexels-photo-109275

Monday’s motivational shout out goes out to all the soldiers grinding away on this Christmas Day. Emergency and medical staff, hospitality staff, mothers, fathers, grandparents, and so many more.

These people grind away, day in and day out, no matter what day it is. These are the true grinders worth recognising today!

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas Day, no matter what you’re doing!

Blog Update: Let’s Do This!

pexels-photo-68369

With the 90 Day Commitment Challenge tidied up, I’ve decided that I still want to write every day (if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing every day right?), but with a bit more variety!

I want each day ┬áto have it’s own flavour, from the classic Motivational Monday, through to something a bit more unique.

I haven’t quite nailed all of them down, but there’s no point dilly-dallying around until I have it all figured out, because if life has taught me anything so far, it’s that if you wait til you have it all figured out, nothing will ever happen.

SO, without further adieu, this is what I’ve decided to roll with:

Motivation Monday: Profiles on motivational people and concepts

Try Tuesday: I love to learn about, and try new things, so this should be a bit of fun at the beginning of the week!

Work in Progress (WIP) Wednesday: Progress in goals and various projects

Thirsty Thursday: Dreams, goals, and all out primal needs

Freestyle Friday: Whatever. I. Want to write about!

Sass and Grind Saturdays: Attitude and mindset

Soul Sundays: Thoughts to feed the soul, wind up the week, and prepare for another week doing it all again!

Any other ideas? Comments? Feedback?

I’m excited for these new adventures! Let’s do it!

Day 88: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

pizza

The weather has frankly, been amazing this past week, and yesterday was no exception. So combine the gorgeous weather with a live band playing in the sunshine on this particular gorgeous Friday afternoon outside my office, and you can imagine I had to dig deep for the motivation to stay inside and work!

I’m also working some very big hours this weekend, so that left my Friday night to get anything I wanted done around the house out of the way. That meant yard work, packing and labelling a bunch of old things that I recently sold online to ship, and all house chores and actually making sure I have clean clothes to wear for the next week!

Needless to say my pizza tasted pretty delicious when it arrived for dinner…

I hope you’re having an amazing day, and feeling motivated to smash your goals today!

Days where I’m working at two jobs are always big days, and yesterday was no exception, so I was in grind mode up until in I got home at 11 pm for a cuddle with the furball and a few minutes of banter with my partner before collapsing into bed.

I hope your squeezing every second out of your day and loving it!

Day 81: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

Yesterday I woke up pretty tired. I didn’t feel like making an effort, and as I stood there struggling to even decide what to wear to work, I realised that I was heading for an end-of-week mini funk (and not the fun kind). So in order to head this self-destructive and unproductive mode off at the pass, I decided to make double effort. I put on my most chic dress and heels, I curled my hair, and left the house ready dominate the day.

I liken this to when you’ve just been dumped and decide to go and get your hair done and hit the town instead of wallowing in your stretchy pants in front of Netflix. This method of picking up your mood is clearly tried and tested! As Maria Sharapova said, “when you look good, you feel good. Confidence with what you’re wearing is very important. If you feel good, you will always perform your best without worrying about anything”

Go and dominate your own day!
