You can listen to a lot of successful and influential people, and take away little bits from each, but there will always be one or two who really gave you what you needed to start doing some damage to your goals. The rest just created interest.
For me, one of the big players in my current mindset is Tim Grover.
For those of you who don’t know who he is, he spent a large chunk of his career coaching Michael Jordan and a few other big names. He focuses on the performance of your mind, and what it takes to be the absolute best you can be, because at the end of the day your mindset is everything.
His talk at 10X growth con set me on fire. I felt like he reached inside my head and unlocked a hidden door that I didn’t know existed, and I left with a clear head, laser focus, and rearing to go!
At the end of that day I bought a subscription to his online training programme ‘The Relentless System’, and it not only poured fuel on the fire, but has helped me to focus my mental energy, re-evaluate what’s working and not working for me with brutal honesty and act accordingly with zero regret. It taught me to let go of my mental baggage, stop overthinking, and start following my gut. You usually know in your gut what you should do, the rest is usually just noise.
Who are your top coaches? And how are they helping you? If you don’t know yet, keep looking until you find them!
Darren Hardy is an author, keynote speaker and mentor, who focuses on increasing productivity, and other common sticking points for the ambitious.
Yesterday I tuned in to a webinar held by Darren, which identified 3 techniques used by the successful to stay focused and accomplish more. The webinar itself was just over an hour before I finally tuned out, with around the last half of it being the usual “webinar attendees only” special deal for whatever follow-on product the speaker is offering (but we’ll get to that in a bit).
The first and informative half of the webinar was however very useful! He discussed 3 main strategies used by the successful to stay focused and make the most of their time:
- Have a system in place to keep distractions away from them and what they have chosen to focus their time on
- Limit the amount of decisions they have to make in a day, by creating autonomy and routine around the less important functions, and leaving them free to think critically about the important decisions
- Leverage their time, energy and focus for the important things, which will yield the highest return on their invested time, etc.
These things may seem like no-brainers, but that doesn’t mean we are doing them! This is also something Darren touched on. After all, just because we know how to get the summer body we want, it doesn’t mean we will all be strutting confidently in our bikinis next season!
The sales pitch I mentioned earlier, and which always follows a free webinar, was for a 90 day productivity training programme, along with a few other extras. Honestly, what he was offering did actually sound pretty good, but for me, I think the pitch just went on too long, much like any TV infomercial, and I tuned out. However, I’m sure it will be useful for those who purchased it!
He does send daily motivational emails and videos which are free to subscribe to (some motivational, some more sales pitch), so if you’re interested you can check out his website here.
Have FANTASTIC day guys! Go out and crush it!
