You can listen to a lot of successful and influential people, and take away little bits from each, but there will always be one or two who really gave you what you needed to start doing some damage to your goals. The rest just created interest.
For me, one of the big players in my current mindset is Tim Grover.
For those of you who don’t know who he is, he spent a large chunk of his career coaching Michael Jordan and a few other big names. He focuses on the performance of your mind, and what it takes to be the absolute best you can be, because at the end of the day your mindset is everything.
His talk at 10X growth con set me on fire. I felt like he reached inside my head and unlocked a hidden door that I didn’t know existed, and I left with a clear head, laser focus, and rearing to go!
At the end of that day I bought a subscription to his online training programme ‘The Relentless System’, and it not only poured fuel on the fire, but has helped me to focus my mental energy, re-evaluate what’s working and not working for me with brutal honesty and act accordingly with zero regret. It taught me to let go of my mental baggage, stop overthinking, and start following my gut. You usually know in your gut what you should do, the rest is usually just noise.
Who are your top coaches? And how are they helping you? If you don’t know yet, keep looking until you find them!
Kelly Cutrone is a publicist, author, producer, actress and reality TV star. She built her PR firm People’s Revolution from the ground up, and it’s now thriving in multiple cities.
She knows exactly who she is, and owns it. She follows her gut, and her heart (often against the advice of others) and stands up for what she believes is right without any apologies.
I’ve read that she’s a tough boss, with skyhigh standards, but for those who choose to work hard and take full advantage of their time with her are rewarded with in an invaluable mentorship.
Here are a couple snippets, although I feel they probably don’t do her essence justice!
Who motivates you?
Have a fantastic and productive day!
You CAN do it. You are capable of absolutely everything you heart and soul desires. We are all capable of amazing things, we just have to keep pushing goddamit!
You can have exactly what you want, but you have to start now. DON’T STOP until you get there.
I’m always curious when I hear someone say TGIF, as if the weekend will always be the best part of the week.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had good weeks and awful weeks, but I’ve also had rough weekends.
My point is, should we be thankful it’s Friday, or shall we just decide to be thankful for every day, each with it’s own highs and lows, victories and challenges?
I know which option I prefer…
Have a fantastic day!
Yesterday I woke up pretty tired. I didn’t feel like making an effort, and as I stood there struggling to even decide what to wear to work, I realised that I was heading for an end-of-week mini funk (and not the fun kind). So in order to head this self-destructive and unproductive mode off at the pass, I decided to make double effort. I put on my most chic dress and heels, I curled my hair, and left the house ready dominate the day.
I liken this to when you’ve just been dumped and decide to go and get your hair done and hit the town instead of wallowing in your stretchy pants in front of Netflix. This method of picking up your mood is clearly tried and tested! As Maria Sharapova said, “when you look good, you feel good. Confidence with what you’re wearing is very important. If you feel good, you will always perform your best without worrying about anything”
Go and dominate your own day!
If you follow my youtube channel, then you may already know that yesterday was a “head down and push through it” kind of day.
It probably didn’t help that I had a little bit of a late night, was pretty tired when I woke up, but got up and pushed through anyway. I’m glad I did, because by the time I got home from work, I was still tired, overwhelmed by everything that I’ve set out to do, and letting myself think about the things that no matter how hard I had already worked, had not yet achieved.
In other words, I was in the motivational danger zone.
So because I had already done my to-do list in the morning and throughout the day when I had a few ounces of motivation, I got home and just sat back, got some perspective from those I look up to, and had an early night. The evenings are my chill time / time to spend with my partner, so I’m still on track with the challenge.
Nothing that is worth having comes easy. On to another day.
Every morning when I set up an online yoga class, I have to do a google search for the ONE website that I use.
Every morning I think “I should set up a bookmark for that so I don’t have to search for it”, followed by “ohhh that’s not going to fit with the other bookmarks I have and hardly ever use, I’ll clear it out and add it later”.
I never did, until this morning.
It took all of 5 minutes and it will save me plenty more than that not having to search for my chosen yoga website every morning, and being distracted with what bookmarks I did have.
As I was going through them I realised that I had been prioritising other websites that I hardly ever use (e.g. Trade Me), over a site that I used daily, benefited my mental and physical wellbeing, and was directly related to my goals.
I now have my bookmarks bar arranged by order of priority and use, with anything that trails off the end (requiring that extra click on the >> button, being of VERY low importance, and hidden where they can’t distract me from what I SHOULD be using my laptop for if I’m online. Health and wellbeing, writing, researching, and motivating.
Control your environment and what takes your focus!
Have a fantastic day guys, I hope you crush it!
